2018-05-12 Prizegiving night

Kilkeel Golf Club Prizegiving 12th May 2018

At the first Prize presentation of the year, The Captain of Kilkeel Golf Club, Mr. Austin Crawford opened the night by thanking the sponsors for their continued support and generous prizes.

The Weekly competitions were announced in sequence as follows:

17th March 2018 - Hilltop Masonry
The first competition sponsored by Hilltop Masonry was held on St. Patrick’s Day where all three of the prizewinners returned scores of 34pts. Keith Little took first place, second was Michael McAnulty and third Danny McGivern whilst Gary Orr had the best gross score.

24th March 2018 - Robinson Cup.
James Greene picked up the Robinson Cup sponsored by Robinson Stone Annalong, with a score of 42 pts, closely contested by Iain Orr 41pts and Darren Trimble 40 pts in second and third places respectively. Keith Little won the best gross with a 78.

31st March 2018 - RNLI Stroke
Sammy McCullough sponsored the RNLI stroke competition which was won by Colin Murdock with a great score of 65 nett. Kenneth McBride and Dominic Murphy both with 69 nett got second and third prize and Robert Stewart returned a score of 75 to win the Gross.

1st April 2018 - Aaron Clydesdale
A stableford competition took place the following week with Category prizes on offer.  Aaron Clydesdale’s prizes were won by Richard Doran, Gary Orr, Gary Uppington and Rodney Park. The Overall winner however was Michael McAnulty with 41pts.

7th April 2018 - Economy Glass – Masters Stroke
Next on the list was the Masters played on the Augusta Masters weekend. Economy Glass presented prizes in four categories as well as first, second, third and Gross. Category winners were Colm Cunningham, Barry Evans, Stephen Murdock and Peter Fitzpatrick.  Jonathan Barber took first place with a 65 nett beating seasoned golfer Henry Flynn into second place by one shot, followed by Kenneth McBride with a 68 nett. William Hanna shot a 72 to secure best gross.

14th April 2018 - James Knox & Sons – Flogas Open
Harry O’Hare won the Flogas Open sponsored by James Knox & Sons with 41pts. The category winners were firsts Colin Murdock (38pts) and James Greene (39pts), Seconds Brendan Gallagher (37pts) and Chris Burns (38pts) and thirds Dominic Murphy (35pts) and Roy Sloan (38pts).

21st April 2018 - Poundworld Scramble
Gary Orr, S. Park, Alan Graham and Stephen Coulter returned a 53.8 nett to win the 4 ball Scramble sponsored by Poundworld Kilkeel.  56.5 nett secured second place for the team of Paul McCullagh, Robert Stewart, James McCulla and Richard Doran.

29th April 2018 - Hanna Bros Kitchen & Bedrooms
Stanley Hanna, representing the Sponsor, Hanna Bros. Kitchens and Bedrooms presented his prizes to winner Gary Orr who scored 45pts. Runner-up was Samuel Gordon with 41pts while Paul McCullagh was in the prizes again with 41pts for third place. Best Gross on the day was Kieran Poland with 74.

5th May 2018 - Spectrum Wealth
The Prizes sponsored by Spectrum Wealth (Robert Hall) were won by Danny McGivern 42pts, Damien Grant Kilcoo 41pts and William Hanna 40pts. Gerald Kelly (Bright G.C.)  secured the best gross with a 74.

6th May 2018 - Adrian Sherry & Brian McKay
Declan Fitzpatrick, on behalf of sponsors Adrian Sherry and Brian McKay presented prizes to Chris Burns 39pts, Peter Kelly 38pts, Jimmy Bell 37pts, and Paul McCullagh 75 gross.

7th May 2018 - May Day Ladies & Gents Open
The Lady President Mrs. Adelaide Orr presented the final prizes of the evening to Eileen Hamill (Ladies Prize) Colm Cunningham 40pts (BB9) Bobby Watts 40pts. James McCulla 39pts and Paul McCullagh 78 Gross.

The Captain concluded the proceedings and thanked the Prize winners for supporting the Sponsors and attending the Prize Giving.
